IIM, Baroda Chapter will attain a significant landmark in 2021 when Baroda Chapter reaches Golden Jubilee of its functioning. As part of the golden jubilee year celebration of IIM Baroda Chapter & to kick off the celebration IIM Baroda Chapter had launched a new website on independence day 15th August 2020, Saturday at 5.30 PM by Prof Amol Gokhale , President of the Indian Institute of Metals has launch the website of IIM Baroda Chapter in presence of Mr Kushal Saha, Secretary General the Indian Institute Dr Sunil D.Kahar, Chairman IIM Baroda Chapter, Prof K Baba Pai former chairman & other office bearer of IIM Baroda Chapter via face book page www/facebook.com/iimbarodachapter.
On this occasion Dr Sunil D.Kahar, Chairman IIM Baroda Chapter gave welcome address. He said that The Indian Institute of Metals Baroda Chapter was established on March 8, 1971, on the day of Hindu New Year, Chaitra Navratri by the late Professor V.L. Gadgil was conducted in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering under the leadership of the late Shri YM Mehta and Professor Seshadri. Dr Kahar proposed that the Institute will attain a significant landmark in 2021 when IIM Baroda Chapter reaches Golden Jubilee of its functioning. It is my proud privilege to kick-start our preparations for a year-long series of events including a Golden Jubilee Lecture Series, Special publications, Technical gatherings, Media events, Student competitions, Commemorative postal stamp and first-day cover, and many other events culminating in the International Conference 2021 mega-event at Vadodara. We owe it to our founders to make this a truly memorable milestone and I look forward to working with each of office bearers, council members, institutional and individual members. All these programs will be under my chairmanship which will make me proud.
Professor Amul Gokhale, National President, Indian Institute of Metals, who was the chief guest at the event, said that we provide a platform to create educational and certification courses for national as well as international audiences, offering technical courses for industry professionals. Increasing the reach of the organization will pave the way for innovative use of digital media to get more meaningful participation by the younger generation. White papers will be started to bridge the gap in metallurgy skills, education, technology and knowledge.
The CII-IIM joint collaboration on offering technical courses for the industry professionals will be further strengthened. We will also explore other platforms for creating academic and certification courses for national as well as international audiences. The syllabuses of such courses may combine open source courses with IIM’s specialised courses to be offered soon. The importance of databases cannot be overstated in today’s data empowered world. IIM can take up the responsibility to build databases of companies, products, materials, experts etc on a digital platform amenable for analytics. The institute is soon completing 75 years of its existence and service to the nation. Some of the activities are planned to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee year such as the International Symposium, Platinum Jubilee plaque, Monthly Commemorative Lectures by prominent metallurgical professionals, a movie on the achievements of the Institute and Essay competition for students. The NMD ATM 2020 event will see live and online mixed mode of delivery to optimise safety and appeal. We will encourage chapters to hold special events of high calibre throughout the year. The institute will make efforts to project women and young metallurgists. Student-centric events such as tutorials to develop problem solving skills, giving career guidance etc will be promoted. The National Council has more corporate members than usual, more women and more young professionals. In addition to their advisory role they will be encouraged to come forward to play a functional role.
Shri Kushal Saha, National General Secretary, Indian Institute of Metals was present as Guest of Honor & present inaugural address. He said that Office premises had been inaugurated by Mr. A.C. Wadhawan, National Vice President The Indian Institute of Metals on 8th February 1992 under the leadership of Late Kishor Kumar, former chairman of IIM Baroda Chapter. Chapter progressed well under his leadership to various milestones to organize various international conferences, seminars/workshops related to metallurgy. Presently IIM, Baroda Chapter is shining under the chairmanship of young & dynamic Dr Sunil Kahar who has revived the chapter after taking charge as chairman on 26th May 2019. Chapter organizes various 9 events such as training workshops CCM-2019, BA-NDT 2019 & many more. Today we are launching a customized website of IIM Baroda Chapter as part of the golden jubilee year celebration for establishments of IIM Baroda Chapter. I must congratulate Dr Kahar & Entire team for this initiative and my best wishes to them for future success.
